One day, while wandering deep into the forest, Maya stumbled upon an abandoned cottage. It was old and dilapidated, with vines creeping up the walls and cobwebs covering the windows. Despite its eerie appearance, Maya felt drawn to the cottage and decided to investigate.

As she approached the front door, she heard a faint whisper. At first, she thought it was just the wind rustling through the leaves, but as she listened more closely, she realized it was a voice.

"Who's there?" she called out, but there was no response. The voice continued to whisper, growing louder and more insistent.

Maya's heart began to race as she cautiously pushed open the door. Inside, the cottage was dark and musty, with a thick layer of dust covering everything. As she took a step forward, she felt a sudden chill run down her spine.

That's when she saw it - a ghostly figure floating in the air, its wispy form barely visible in the dim light. Maya's instincts told her to run, but she was also curious. She decided to stay and investigate.

As the sun went down and the night set in, the traveler settled in one of the dusty rooms on the ground floor. The eerie silence of the mansion was only broken by the occasional creaking of the old wooden floorboards.

But as the clock struck midnight, the traveler heard strange footsteps echoing from the upper floors. The sound of doors opening and closing on their own made him shudder with fear. Suddenly, the room grew icy cold, and a thick mist began to swirl around him.

And then, the ghosts appeared. The traveler could see them as faint apparitions, their eyes glowing with a menacing red light. They beckoned him to join them, their voices whispering in his ears, but he refused to move.
